Every FAA-certified flight instructor (CFI) must complete mandatory spin training under 14 CFR §61.183(i)(1) to earn their certificate, ensuring they can safely demonstrate, teach, and recover from spins in approved aircraft. Reinforced by AC 61-67C and the Airmen Certificate Standards (ACS), this requirement mandates hands-on instruction in spin entry, recognition, and recovery techniques. The training emphasizes aerodynamic principles, physiological factors, and proven recovery methods, equipping instructors to effectively instill upset prevention and recovery skills in their students. Conducted by our own experienced aerobatic instructor, this training is non-negotiable for the professional CFI and is paramount for building safer, more competent instructors.
